Italian States — Duchy of Parma, 1857, 25c lilac‑brown cover from Parma to Verona
Folded entire sent 2 November 1857 from Parma to Verona, franked with the 25 centesimi lilac‑brown stamp (Sassone No. 10). The stamp is in excellent condition and neatly tied. Accompanied by a certificate signed by Dr. Enzo Diena (9 Dec 1986) confirming the authenticity of both cover and stamp, with photo reproduction included.
Italy States — Sardinia 1853/55
15c vermiglio (Sassone #8), fresh and fine example with mostly large margins, lightly tied by neat postmark dated 1855. Attractive usage paying the 15c rate for the first rayon of the Lega. Clean and well-centered, a desirable classic issue.

Duchy of Parma – 1855 Cover to Piacenza with 1852 5c Yellow-Green, Sassone #8
Folded entire sent from Borgotaro to Piacenza, dated 19 October 1855, franked with a horizontal strip of three 5 centesimi yellow-green (giallo chiaro/verdone), tied by circular postmarks.
A fine and rare franking, bearing disinfection slits typical of the period.
Accompanied by a 2001 certificate from Giorgio Colla, who confirms the authenticity of the letter, strip, and cancellations, and notes the excellent condition aside from the slits.
A very scarce and attractive item of classic Italian postal history.

Italy, 1816 (26 Sept) — Disinfected Cover from Trieste to Napoli via Ferrara
Folded entirely bearing a pink flower-style health cachet on the front and disinfected inside/outside by the Ferrara sanitary authority, marked “Netta Fuori e Dentro”. Red arrival backstamp on reverse dated 26 Sept 1816. A fine example of early 19th-century quarantine mail, combining an intriguing floral cachet with rare Papal State disinfection handling.

Italian States: Parma, 1854, 15c red (Scott 7, MiNr. 3 ), tied with 3-line hand-stamp on folded letter “PARMA/ 20/ FEBBRAJO”, addressed to "Fontanato Caligaur Reggio," indicating its destination as Reggio, which could refer to Reggio Emilia or Reggio Calabria in Italy. with receiving postmark, Very Fine.

Two classic early stamps from the Duchy of Parma, Piacenza, and Guastalla:
5c black on yellowish paper – Sassone #1, Michel #1b, catalog value €250 used, wonderful with four clear margins. Expert's signature on back.
25c black on violet paper – Sassone #4, Michel #4, catalog value €400 used, very fine with four clear margins. Expert's signature on back.

ITALIAN STATES – TUSCANY. 1857 (May 16) Folded letter from Firenze to Genova, franked with 6 crazie green on grey-blue (MiNr. 7y), tied by clear 5-bar grill cancel. Marked with boxed “P.D.” and two-line “VIA DI SAR” handstamp, indicating routing via the Kingdom of Sardinia. Backstamped with Genova arrival dated 17 May 1857. Signed Avanzo.
ITALIAN STATES – TUSCANY, 1856: Cover from Florence to Lodi (Perugia), franked with 4 crazie green on grey (Sassone 7, MiNr. 6xb, first printing), tied by 5-bar mute cancel. Stamp with ample to wide margins. Clear boxed “P.D.” in black and well-struck departure and arrival date stamps. Addressed to the Vicar General of the Diocese of Perugia. A fresh and attractive cover. Cat. €200. Very Fine.

Japan 1875 - 1 Sen Brown Cherry Blossom with Syllabic 3 (ha) on Foreign Paper, on Cover. A scarce example of the classic 1 sen brown Cherry Blossom issue printed on foreign paper, featuring the distinctive katakana syllabic “ha” (Syll. 3) in the margin. The stamp is affixed to a cover mailed from Osaka city drop mail, dated 7.7.1875, cancelled with Kiban Ne-1 and additionally with N1B1 Osaka cancellations dated 8.7.17.
According to JSCA, this syllabic variety is moderately rare, catalogued at around ¥120,000 (~€850).
A used, well-centred 1 sen brown with syllabic 3 (ha), certified, was sold for about €700 at David Feldman’s 2023 Autumn Auction.

Japan – New Year’s Greeting Postcard – Pre-printed stationery featuring “賀新年” (Happy New Year) text and a calendar structure with dates, days of the week, and reference to Emperor Jimmu. Rare early 20th-century festive postal stationery.

Japan 1872 — Cherry Blossom issue on native paper. Mixed franking of 1 sen blue (Type N-III, Plate 22, Position 3) and 2 sen yellow (Type N-II) on cover from Osaka to a village near Morigu-chi, Kawachi Province, dated 3.9.1873. The 1 sen stamp paid the "inaccessible area" postal rate.
