Lot 331
Flowers.
France, 1827 (20 Juin). Folded entire from Linières (Maine-et-Loire, 47) to Baugé. Pre-philatelic official letter exempt from postage under official usage (mayoralty, juge de paix). Reverse bears a sharp mayoral cachet depicting three Fleur-de-Lis, matching the 1782 engraved town hall stationery seal.
The letter’s handwritten content is an official police or judicial report relating to an incident in the Canton of Noyant involving the flight and pursuit of armed individuals, with references to injuries and detainment. Addressed to the deputy prosecutor of Bauge, the text shows some deterioration and illegibility consistent with its age.
A rare example of early 19th-century local official correspondence with strong historical and philatelic significance.
Lot 332
Flowers.
1860 Folded letter PAS DE CALAIS: NB P.P. from ARRAS on letter destined to England with arrival postmark verso. The “ port paya” ornamentation of the Fleur-de-Lis is rather rare for a letter sent abroad.
Lot 333
Flowers.
French pre‑philatelic - 1817 folded letter from Palais Royal to Clermont‑Ferrand inspector.
Sent under cover from the “Administration of Estates and Forests of the Duke of Orleans”, this 1817 folded letter is endorsed to “Monsieur Leves, Inspecteur de nos forêts à Clermont, Puy‑de‑Dôme”. It features a bold fleur‑de‑lis seal of the Administration, presumably affixed at the Palais‑Royal, signifying official capacity. A rare and elegant example of aristocratic government correspondence with a powerful heraldic appeal
Italy 1869, Stampless Folded Letter from Monte Porzio to Pesaro via Senigallia
Folded letter bearing a clear double-circle Sardo-Italian postmark of Monte Porzio, dated 17 APR 1869, accompanied by the communal cachet depicting the fleur-de-lis. Forwarded the same day to Pesaro via Senigallia, with a transit marking on reverse. Arrival noted by a manuscript notation on the front
