JNF – 2nd Local Issue Full Imperforate Proof Gutter Sheet of 40

Complete proof sheet of 40 stamps from the 2nd Local Issue, printed on trial paper without gum by the Pikovski Printing House, Jerusalem. Catalog Rochlin 1119.

Layout: The sheet is arranged in two main horizontal blocks, each consisting of 2 rows of 10 stamps (2×10), separated by a prominent horizontal gutter. All margins are uniform except the right margins, which are tight but do not touch the design. Margins match the aged cream background of the sheet.

Design: The map on these stamps depicts the border of the proposed Jewish State as recommended by the United Nations Partition Resolution of November 29, 1947. The inscription reads "Jewish State" in Hebrew. The upper pane includes the "Lake" variety, while the lower pane is without this variety.

This sheet represents a trial of the final issued paper. Fine and very rare, ideal for collectors of JNF and early Israeli philately.
