1851 New Brunswick #1, 3d bright red on blue heavy woven paper. A striking example of this iconic imperforate issue, cancelled by a bold framed oval grid ‘18’ numeral. Characteristic uneven margins—narrower at top and right, balanced by wider bottom and left sides—add to its authentic period appeal. As was typical of early imperforates, the stamp was hand-cut from sheets, giving each example a unique visual presence. Expertly signed on the gum side by W. Engel, certifying its authenticity.
Catalogued by Stanley Gibbons as SG 1 (£350 / approx. USD 550).
Estimate: USD 400–550.
